Day 243 (August 31)

Goodbye summer! Bring on the fall! It's actually been really nice here, in the upper 80's/super low 90's. Unheard of for these parts in August!
Not that it can really been seen in the picture, but this is Jupiter. It's really big right now and according to my parents, if you have binoculars or a telescope, you can see the moons around it. Unfortunately, we have neither here at the house that we know of.
Here's just a random pic of the moon too. Because I felt dumb posting just a picture of a teeny, tiny, white dot.

Day 242 (August 30)

Two pictures today!

First, look at how adorable these babies are!!! They are living under the neighbor's back porch. Unfortunately, they're wild cats (There always seems to be an abundance of them around here..) Anyway, there are two little gray ones and three little black ones. SO adorable! I had to take this quick pic from my upstairs bedroom window, through the screen, so that's why it's especially sucky.
And second, check out all the loot I got at CVS. After ECBs and coupons, I actually MADE a buck off all of this! I love free stuff and love working a deal!! Anyone who says couponing is too much work is just insane.

Day 241 (August 29)

My iPhone went kaput today. Stupid phone.... Nothing but trouble, I tell you. Nothing but trouble.

Day 240 (August 28)

Got to spend the night in the ER last night. Fun stuff, I tell ya... After a bunch of tests, they determined I just had a really bad virus. No fun.

Day 239 (August 27)

Big storm coming to Arlington! I just love it!

Day 238 (August 26)

Tonight was truly a blessing. We had the honor of meeting Ron Hall, co-author of Same Kind of Different As Me. Amazing night!

Day 237 (August 25)

Josh and I went to see Tommy Emmanuel at Bass Hall tonight. GREAT show!

Day 236 (August 24)

I want to punch her in the face. Great workout, but I hate working out.

Day 235 (August 23)

Didn't really do much today after church. Josh napped and I read my book (Saint by Ted Dekker) for several hours. I got about 3/4 of the way through! Great read so far.
Anyway, we went to Bethany for dinner and got tea. They seal them with plastic and this the lids.
Take a closer look at the fine print...
So, children under 5 are off limits to eat....but what about children over 5? Fair game? I'd like the children fried rice, please.

Day 234 (August 22)

I got to hang out with my good friend Brenda and one of her friends from Tulsa today. We went out to Sam Moon in Keller to do some shopping. Prior to that though, we ran into another costume jewelry store and found these awful, gaudy cross necklaces. They were just ridiculous!

day 233 (August 21)

Emily and I played Mancala tonight. Fun stuff!

Day 232 (August 20)

Evolution of a cell phone. I was cleaning out a bunch of drawers and boxes full of old cell phones and accessories at work and came across all these phones, minus my iPhone, of course! I won't bother posting a picture of the HUGE pile of chargers/cases/etc that I had. It was ridiculous.

Anyone else remember these bad boys??

Tonight was also PCA's open house. Josh and I went up there to show our support for Emily! Art teachers RULE! Anyway, down one of the hallways, they pictures of all the senior classes. Here's mine. The rocking class of 1999!

Day 231 (August 19)

Paul McCartney is playing at the stadium tonight. While we avoided that area early in the evening because of traffic (there is also a Ranger's game tonight) we did run up there on the bike later. I wanted to see if you could hear anything from the Walmart parking lot. No dice. Shucks.
But, it's still the closest I'll ever be to a Beatle in this pic below! :)

Day 230 (August 18)

Have I mentioned how disgusted I am by chicken veins?? They gross me out. I had the veiniest, veinyest, vein-ey-est chicken breast with an abundance of veins for dinner tonight. I spent more time picking it apart than I did eating.

Oh, and tonight, under the cover of almost-darkness, I made Josh help me steal a small table from our neighbor's trash pile. Fun! I haven't taken a pic of it yet though so the veiny chicken will have to do for today.

Day 229 (August 17)

It was too hot (and late) to really do anything outside. No one is here so it's boring. There was NOTHING on TV. Nothing at all. So... we resorted to watching the Real World via the interwebs. *sigh* What has this world come to!?!

Day 228 (August 16)

Casey's (and Natalie!) shower was today! It was actually scheduled awhile back, but Natalie decided to make her appearance a little sooner so the shower was postponed until today. We had a great time! This is Casey (in the green) opening gifts, her sister, and Beth who had just discovered breast milk bags.

We

Day 227 (August 15)

I convinced Josh to take me to the Country Peddler show at the convention center! When I was a kid, my parents would go every year with their band and play music during the show. Some of the other band kids and I would wander around the booths for hours and hours, stopping at the New Canaan Farms booth every 15 minutes or so to "taste" more jams and stuff, of course! (Pumpkin butter was always my favorite)
Anyway, this is just one of the few little things I picked up this year. I want to hang this in my kitchen, if I ever get a kitchen again!!

Day 226 (August 14)

We went and snooped around a house Daniel and Emily were semi-interested in. Josh and Daniel actually got in the house (despite all the "NO TRESPASSING" signs!) Emily and I didn't go in. We're not fans of breaking an entering. After that, we grabbed dinner at CiCi's and then came to the house. Dan and Josh watched some Dave upstairs and we girls (Carrie had joined us by then) found our old game Booby Trap! So we pulled it out and played! Daniel, Carrie and I played this game for years at Grandma's house. Memories! It's still as fun as it was then :)

Day 225 (August 13)

We had a Union leadership meeting tonight. We talked about Union-y things. And Brenda told us an awesome unknown fact about herself :)

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Day 224 (August 12)

Josh was hanging out with Paul tonight (ok, so they were just upstairs watching a movie, but whatever!) so I grabbed Carrie and we played around on the guitars.

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Day 223 (August 11)

I don't like asparagus.
I made it tonight though because I wanted to try a new recipe. The chicken was good, the spare-grass (as we call it) was gross. One of these days I'll give up trying to make it taste good and realize that it's just isn't possible.

Day 222 (August 10)

Hobbes likes to look down on the minions from his high and lofty perch.

Sunday, August 9, 2009

Day 221 (August 9)

Didn't do much today... Lauren came over in the afternoon and we played guitar for a bit then got sidetracked talking about other stuff. So it goes!

Later, Josh and I got a Slurpee on the way home from the grocery store. Not as good as a snow cone, but hey, it'll do!

Day 220 (August 8)

Josh had a class for work in Irving all weekend so I was all by my lonesome. So, Saturday morning, Daniel, Emily and I went to Grapevine Mills. We found this in the dollar store and played a few rounds. At one point, we were ahead a couple quarters, but then we ended up losing them. Oh well. We only lost 50 cents total so no biggie!

Later, I met Emily B at the Brownstone Shoppes and then when Josh got home, we all went to Southlake and wandered. Fun stuff!

Day 219 (August 7)

We looked at some houses in Arlington today. Here's the backyard of one of the few we liked... It has an AWESOME deck and then backs up to this park. No fence so basically the park IS your backyard! It was way sweet. The house was ok too, but the yard is what made it.

Thursday, August 6, 2009

Day 218 (August 6)

Had a slightly depressing night so we opted for Nizza Pizza for dinner. So good and so fattening. I can hear my arteries screaming for mercy...

Day 217 (August 5)

A storm was coming and the sky had some cellulite.

Day 216 (August 4)

Made one of my favorite dinners! Rosemary chicken. Delicious!

Monday, August 3, 2009

Day 215 (August 3)

Took Josh to the doctor tonight. He was having some chest pain. An x-ray and EKG later, the doc decided it's due to stress. Poor guy! He's been having a rough time at work lately. I'm just glad he's ok!

Sunday, August 2, 2009

Day 214 (August 2)

I got another rocking chair. Yes, that's two in one weekend. So what? Anyway, this is what the second one looked like when we got it this afternoon:

It's not bad, but I wanted to refinish it. So I pulled out the rotary sander and some sandpaper and started working on it. It'll take several days, but it'll get there. I'm going to strip it down then stain it again in a darker finish (like the other one I bought, pictured in yesterday's post). Here's where it was when I finished up today's work. The spindles are going to be heck to get sanded down.

Day 213 (August 1)

We picked up a rocking chair I bought on Craigslist today. I'm so excited! After we picked up the chair, we met our realtor to see a couple houses.

Day 212 (July 31)

Daniel and Emily came over and we watched Finding Nemo. Love that movie!
